Height: 9 feet
Length: 16 feet
Weight: 0.4 tons
The teal color of her hide (as she does not have scales) fade to gold as they move towards her rear talons, and the gold runs along her underbelly. The blue leopard-like prints run along her back and the upper thighs in various shapes and sizes. As they progress, they become more like stripes down her legs and tail (which is incidentally much more flexible than a Deinonychi). She wears a necklace holding the teeth of those she killed for prey, game, or protection. One tooth from each creature. More or less a totem of her battle ferocity. The disconcerting bit is that some of those teeth belonged to humans. Yellow plumes of feathers explode from her cranium and race along her spine, ending in an extended fan-shape at the tip of her tail.
----
Personality:-
Halmalin is the stern mother figure, and is far more likely to chomp your head off than laugh at a joke, most of which fly over her head anyway. Her temper is dangerous to mess with. A strategic battle planner, Halmalin is naturally aggressive and territorial, and will tend to provoke others even if the cost is high. Defiant to the end. However, her pack leadership has ingrained itself in her personality. If somebody should step out of line, she will put them in their place .. perhaps cruelly, as she can be a disciplining creature as well. And should somebody fight against her, or threaten her pack or friend, she will not hesitate to kill. Combat strategies crowd her head in seconds. Her methods may seem crude and evil, but that is of her nature. She really has good intentions at heart, and shows a soft spot around her own younglings ... but is not shy about actively hunting and snuffing the life of a stranger's child to 'weed out the competition'. Despite harsh mannerisms, she puts the pack before herself, although the need for revenge may get in the way.
----
Abilities/Traits:-
+ Calling of Kin= Halmalin can call other raptors to her aid. However, this only works while she is on her home world, Urth.
+ Immortality= Being a demigod, Halmalin is ageless ... so to speak. She ages, but very slowly. As in, several hundreds of centuries can go by before her feathers turn gray and her bones become brittle.
+ Speed= Nothing complicated about this ... Halmalin is quite adept on her feet. She can run a great deal over rugged terrain without faltering.
+ Telepathy= Halmalin cannot speak by conventional means. This Utahraptor can only speak by temporarily linking minds with others.
----
Disadvantages:-
+ Great speed, low defense. She can get tripped up on the terrain if she does not see an obstacle ahead of time.
+ Defiant, and thus prone to making the wrong decisions.
+ Telepathy only works if the being she attempts to communicate with is receptive of her attempts ... and can understand her.
+ Lacking other raptors of her own brood at the Oasis, Halmalin cannot call upon them when she is in danger. She is also too proud to ask for help from strangers, even when desperate.
+ While Halmalin may appear completely immortal, she can be exterminated by means of disease, injury, or starvation like any other being.
----
Family:-
Many. She has a great number of aunts, all of who were mates with her father. She has a few blood-brothers, who have the same mother as her. A few half-brothers and half-sisters running around. Numerous packmates who are considered 'brother' or 'sister'. And as Halmalin has been around for quite a while, she has birthed many clutches and bore many children, though her mate was killed off during the assault of Vertigo. Some of her children have survived.
However, after the re-emergence of her brood to do one more battle with Vertigo and her brainwashed followers, Halmalin lost nearly all of her pack. The few brothers/sisters/children she has left fled for their lives.
Followers - Dead or brainwashed.

Known History:-
Eons ago, before humans walked the Earth, seven demigods evolved from the primal life spirits of our planet. These seven embodied all that represented new life: life (Armadon), evil (Diablo), hunger (Sauron), survival (Talon), good (Blizzard), insanity (Vertigo), and filth and carrion (Chaos). In those early days, the skies shook and the Earth trembled with the fevered pitch of the gods' tireless battles - and there was balance. Then, from a parallel dimension, a great wizard named Balsafas recognized the threat the demigods posed to the rest of the universe, and plotted to disrupt the balance. Lacking the might to kill a demigod outright, he banished one, Vertigo, to an isolated rock tomb at the center of the moon. This disturbance caused an explosion that nearly wiped out all life on Earth and sent the surviving gods into a kind of suspended animation. Millions of years later, a meteor collided with the Earth, and its destructive fury destroyed cities and rearranged whole continents. A few humans survived, but their technology was gone. The remaining humans were little better than their ancestors of millions of years past. The meteor's other effect was to awaken the sleeping gods, who unleashed their fury on the new "Urth."
So began the great battles of a time known as the Primal Rage. The gods fought to see who would control the newly arranged planet, and who would fall into death and darkness. Most humans, unwilling to become creatures trapped in the middle and not so eager to fall under heavy rule once the fighting would be over, claimed sides and worshiped the gods as loyal followers. They supported their chosen demigod, no matter how dismal things looked and no matter how hungry the gods were ... because most of the demigods took some of their worshipers, or their enemy's worshipers, as sacrifices. In other words, many followers were eaten so that the demigods could gain strength.
The gods were as follows:
Armadon: A ceratopsian dragon, and the God of Life, Armadon fights to defend Urth and prevent the dino-beasts utterly from destroying it.
Blizzard: One of the two ape-beasts, the God of Good. A noble and heroic beast, Blizzard wishes to undo the damage caused to Urth by both the meteor and the warring gods.
Chaos: The second of the two ape-beasts, and the God of Decay, Chaos was formerly a scientist, transformed into his current state by accident. Chaos is the crudest of the dino-beasts.
Diablo: An Allosaurus-esque dino-beast, and God of Evil. This flame-spewing demonic dinosaur leads the evil dino-beasts and desires to transform Urth into a nightmarish hell.
Sauron: The T-Rex styled beast and God of Hunger, Sauron's immortality only lasts whilst he devours human flesh, as he suffers from an insatiable appetite. In spite of this, he is one of the Virtuous Beasts and not evil.
Talon: The raptor dino-beast and God of Survival. One of the good dino-beasts, Talon is the patriarch of a huge family of raptors, fiercely protective, it is for their sake that he plunged into war.
Vertigo: A cobrasaur and the only female dino-god, Goddess of Insanity. Once a great sorceress but now condemned to the body of a monster, Vertigo's only goal is to enslave the humankind and reign the Urth with her dementia.
The Virtuous Beasts, because their goals were ultimately similar, allied with each other and fought against the evil ones, led by Diablo. But they were not to win. The evil ones, though short in number, had far more skills in magic and brutality. They became the victors .. but true to their nature, they were conniving. And once the battle was one between light and dark, their greed and desire to control the world turned them on each other. The outcome of this war?
Armadon was killed during battle. But Gaea was ever faithful to her guardian. His body submerged into the ground, disappearing beneath rock and soil. The carcass was laid to rest in a rock womb inside his catacomb home. Slowly but undoubtedly, his body healed.
Sauron was captured and starved. Once his immortality was undone by his lack of flesh meals, the evil ones killed him.
In the thick of battle between Diablo and Blizzard, Diablo melted the ice beneath the arctic-monster's feet. Blizzard sank beneath the surface of the massive ice shelves he called home, and was ultimately left to drown.
Diablo was driven insane by Vertigo's magic.
Chaos did battle with the dementia-controlled Diablo, and methane doesn't mix with fire. In the massive explosion that ensued, the earth cracked open and lava spewed out. Chaos fell into the abyss of inferno, ending in a display that would put the Fourth of July to shame. Diablo simply melted into the fire. His survival is questionable ...
Vertigo reigned supreme. With her magic, she enslaved and brainwashed humans by the thousands, forcing them to build her a tower around the great Stonehenge. This tower would open portals to new dimensions and worlds. Vertigo, being greedy and vile as she was, ventured to each of these worlds and overruled as many as she could.
Talon was slaughtered during the war. Thereafter, Vertigo's human slaves were sent to seek and destroy any family member Talon had. His pack was assaulted and numerous were killed. Hidden by the smoke of the fire and ash the humans used to kill the others, the surviving members fled into the night. They sought out refuge and came to a jungle so deep that no human would dare to venture inside. Here they recovered in both body, number, and spirit. Talon's only remaining daughter, Halmalin, became the pack-leader. The Talon Clan bode their time, growing in strength slowly.
... Two centuries past ...
Halmalin was tired of waiting for the opportune moment to strike. With their numbers reaching a milestone, the clan was well capable of pressing past the human defenses of Vertigo's Tower. They would advance and claim victory and revenge on the cobrasaur, and take back Urth as their own.
Miles underground, Armadon's healing process came to a halt. Made fresh to the world again, he was awakened by the tortured screams of the Urth that only he was meant to hear. The Urth had been shrieking in agony since the day the meteor hit, and the pain was more than evident. Armadon was called to duty once more. He had to fight for his planet, to keep it from hurting anymore. Gaea told him that Talon's daughter was about to seek retribution. She also said that Armadon would be needed, as Halmalin and her pack would not be able to withstand Vertigo's wrath alone.
While Halmalin's pack advanced, Armadon traveled to the tower underground. It was about to begin ...

The sky cracked open. Not so in the literal sense, but by all reasoning the thing that now obscured part of the afternoon sky looked like a great chasm that would rival a continent-devouring sinkhole. A portion of the sky was blotted out, the very sun vanishing from view, although the light from the massive Red Giant star still went around what came.
Sitting dead center in the middle of the air .. high up and way over anybody's heads, and the tops of trees, was a swirling vortex of black. There was not a glimmer of light from this obsidian ink blot, although the sparkling clouds of violet and indigo that swirled around it gave it more life, made it look .. beautiful.
And then there was something in the black portal. A small tan speck dead center of this black hole, that steadily grew larger and larger ... until it seemed as large as the portal itself.
And then the tan thing, a creature of horns and spikes curled into a ball, was out of the portal and freefalling, its gnarled, horned, and spiked back facing the dirt below.
Miles high and falling fast, at a speed that would be fatal if the collision wasn't stopped. That would be a feat within itself, for this tan spiny creature was monstrous, even from that height.
The vortex closed behind it.
