Rules of At the Crossroads
If any of the below rules are broken, you will first be approached by a staff member with a chance rectify the situation. If the problem is not corrected or there is a second problem, you will be issued a warning. A third strike will result in a (sometimes temporary) ban from the forums. If a rule(s) is being broken in a particular roleplay thread(s), that thread(s) will be locked until the issue is resolved.
Everybody is responsible for what happens within the Crossroads. If you see a rule being broken, feel free to approach the player and let him/her know or speak to a moderator/administrator if you feel uncomfortable in confronting the person. This will allow the player a chance to correct his/her mistake before any severe penalty will be enacted.
Although we would like to trust the other RPer to act fairly, there are times in which this is not possible. We encourage 'speaking up'. Please watch each other's backs, and report a situation in which somebody is being treated unfairly. Don't worry - you will remain anonymous.
RULES
+ Respect one another and their characters. Do not treat them, or their characters, in a way that would infuriate/insult you. This includes keeping OoC and IC separate from one another. Do not hold onto grudges. That will lead to unnecessary drama that will strain the ties that bond us all together. If ever you feel there is a miscommunication between players, talk it out ... or consult a moderator to, well, moderate the argument.
+ This forum is meant for players of all ages. Sex happens. So does violence. But these should happen in roleplay only and be marked with an appropriate warning label (something as simple as slapping a 'Mature' in the title.)
+ No Godmoding. This means, no determining the actions/taking control/killing another character without the player's permission. To roleplay is to cooperate. If you are at all unsure if your character's next actions teeter on godmoding, simply message the other player and talk it out with them. Several problems can be avoided by simple communication.
+ No Metagaming. This means that your character cannot have knowledge about another character that would not normally be known without some serious spying. Again, if you feel something you want to post may be metagaming, converse with the other player to clarify.
+ Please follow the instructions of the staff when help from other players is no longer enough. If you ever feel that a moderator is overstepping his/her bounds, contact Windra.
+ One a character profile is created, that profile is solid. You must stick with what you have written. Characters can develop new abilities as time and experience calls for it, but they cannot suddenly be empowered with something that was not there before without a reasonable explanation.
+ You may initially join with 3 characters. These characters can be of the same or different species, hailing from whatever background and having whatever ability ... Really, that's all up to you. You can have more than one character join in the same thread, but make a note of it. After two months of activity with your three characters, you can make a 4th character. Two months after that, you can create a 5th so long as you remain active with your other characters. 5 is the maximum characters allotted to any one person. If ever you tire of one of your characters, you may simply request their deletion. (This, of course, does not mean the profile itself is deleted. We will archive those for future use, if you ever want to take them up actively again.)
+ There are no rules regarding humans/species. Any creature species may be allowed on this RP.
+ There is a one thread per active character limit in place, meaning a character is only allowed in one thread at a time. You cannot have him or her appear in multiple places all at one. If you want a character to leave a thread, simply have them, well ... leave.
+ Characters may have any set of abilities or skills, but this must be within reason. Features that are godmoding will not be allowed (being of such a size that simply moving will destroy the entire woodland or being able to automatically mind-control anybody within their vicinity being extreme examples.)
+ For every ability, there must be a disability. Superman had Krptonite, didn't he?
+ Copyright-protected characters will not be allowed within the site. Unfortunately, that can lead to a lot of legal issues. And we really don't want those. You can, however, freely base a character off of a movie/cartoon/novel/anime.
+ A profile sheet (found here) must be completed and posted at the Entering forum for each character. A character may not be actively roleplayed until the application has been approved. We generally approve of a character after 10 posts per involved player has been reached. (For example, if there are two members playing in a Joining Thread, there must be 20 total posts before the character is accepted.)
+ Other players are encouraged to roleplay with new characters at the Entering forum, but only staff members may accept the profiles.
+ The roleplay at the Crossroads is livened by interaction from other players. If a character has a plot in mind that may affect the whole area or upset the timeline, they need only contact Windra to coordinate and confirm that the idea is feasible.
+ No permission is required to start smaller plots involving a player's own character and/or a small group of willing players, as long as the plot does not affect the main plot or uninvolved characters.
+ Regarding NPCs. These are characters created on the fly who are not owned by any particular player, and thus can be played with by any player in the thread. This includes birds in the sky, wild animals, a monster attacking you or your party, or a random Villager who points you in the right direction somewhere. NPCs can be anywhere or anything, and require no special permission to use.
+ Regarding Pets/Followers. These are characters who can only be controlled by the player who created them. Their main purpose is to enhance/expand on the official character. Examples include dogs, horses, cats, a mouthy sidekick, a butler, and so on. Such a pet/follower must be mentioned in the official character's profile. These beings can only be found alongside the main character (unless you have them, say, waiting back at home), and are not allowed to enter a thread on their own.
+ When a player has not responded to an RP thread they are active in for a whole week, the other player(s) will have the right to bypass this character and/or write him/her out of the roleplay so that they can continue on without waiting.
